The Charlie | Scalloped Nursery Compactum & Chest of Drawers
The Charlie is a scalloped nursery compactum, locally made in Cape Town and designed to be both a changing station and a generous chest of drawers.
We named this piece after our daughter, Charlie, the little person in our lives who inspired it all. 💛
We designed this beautiful chest of drawers when we were looking for a compactum ourselves and couldn't find quite what we had in mind. So, we designed our own.
With a generous 120cm-wide and 67cm-deep top, The Charlie works beautifully as a changing station, with plenty of room for a changing mat and all your everyday baby essentials. The deep drawers underneath provide generous storage for little clothes, nappies, blankets and everything else that comes with having a baby.
Once you no longer need a changing station, simply remove the changing mat and The Charlie becomes a beautiful nursery chest of drawers that can continue to be used for years to come.
The scalloped details
The scalloped edge running around the base is what gives The Charlie its signature look: soft, playful and a little bit different from the usual nursery furniture.
Available in different colors and wood options
The Charlie is available in solid pine wood or oak wood, each piece carefully crafted just for you.
Choose from our selection of soft and playful colors, including butter yellow, baby blue, soft pink, sage green, beige/warm white and taupe. Looking for something a little different? Custom colors can also be discussed.
Proudly made in the Mother City
Every Charlie is designed by Maison and made locally in Cape Town by our skilled partner woodworker.
Production time
Each scalloped compactum is made to order in Cape Town and takes up to 3 weeks to produce. It is often ready sooner, but we prefer to say 3 weeks to be safe and avoid any disappointment.

A little note on natural wood
The Charlie is made from real wood, so it will naturally respond to changes in temperature, humidity and the seasons.
Over time, you may notice small movements in the wood, slight separation or tiny cracks in the paint. These natural changes are completely normal and are part of the beauty of real wood furniture.
No two pieces will ever be exactly the same, and we think that's what makes them special. It's real wood doing what real wood does. 🤍
